RIVER ROUGE, Mich. (WXYZ) — The pastor of True Worship Church on Coolidge Highway in River Rouge says he is not able to hold prayer services at his building due to flood damage that is extensive. He tells us it’s been a troubling situation with no easy answers.

The congregation has been temporarily forced to move off site and services are being held in a court building owned by the city.

“This is really devastating, but we aren’t giving up and are asking for help from the city and the people,” says Pastor Lovell Cannon Jr.

The cause of the flood is determined to be a sprinkler system that burst inside the church months ago, causing water to fill the sanctuary. So far, it’s unknown exactly how much money the church will need. The pastor says they’ve received limited assistance from their insurance company.

There’s also been damage from recent wind storms that’s added to the frustration. Help for the community is being requested. Donations can be made here.
