ROMULUS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Detroit Metro Airport experienced a security scare on Sunday.
A father was dropping off his child, an unaccompanied minor, at the airport at the North Terminal, when they walked up to a security checkpoint.
Airport officials say the father removed a barricade in front of a closed metal detector and they both walked in without being screened.
TSA officers contacted police, who quickly located the father and child.
The child was taken back to a checkpoint for screening. Police took the father into custody for breaching security. Officials say he was likely ticketed and released.
Operations returned to normal at the North Terminal around 5:30 p.m.
