LIVONIA, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 19-year-old was arrested after a cell phone sale that went wrong at a Target parking lot in Livonia.
Police say on Dec. 23, 2019, a woman listed a phone for sale on the "Let Go" app and agreed to meet a potential buyer in the parking lot of Target located at Plymouth Road.
She approached a vehicle that was driving by "the buyer," later identified as 19-year-old William Stinson, and two other men to conduct the sale.
As she was showing Stinson her phone, he allegedly grabbed it from her hand. When the victim reached in the window and tried to take the phone back, Stinson allegedly sped away, dragging her several feet before she was run over by the car as she fell.
Police say the victim had injuries to her left hand and left leg. She was treated and released at the scene.
Similar crimes were reported to the Inkster Police Department on Dec. 22, 2019, and the Westland Police Department on Jan. 3 by other users of the "Let Go" app. Stinson was identified as a person of interest.
Stinson was arrested on Jan. 10 on a multi-count felony warrant charging him with Unarmed Robbery, Felonious Assault, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder and Larceny from Person.
