St. Patrick's Day falls on Saturday this year and people across the metro area will be taking part in activities all day long.

While most people tend to stay safe on the roads, oftentimes, the day is filled with drunk drivers on roads in the area.

From 2012 to 2016, there were 269 people killed due to drunk driving crash just on the holiday period for St. Patrick's Day, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

There are several ways that people can get a safe ride home if you are too drunk to drive.

Uber and Lyft are two of the more popular options. They are also offering deals first-time users.

Lyft users can get up to $20 in credit on their first ride by using these promo codes, and Uber is offering up to $15 off your first ride by clicking here

Another option is to download NHTSA's SaferRide mobile app, which will allow users to identify their location and call a taxi or friend to pick them up.

The app offers you just three options: "Where Am I?" "Call friend," and "get taxi." Selecting "where am I?" will give you a current location on a map, "get taxi" will offer several taxi options nearby along with phone numbers, and "call friend" will let you pick a friend in settings to call for a ride.

On top of that, AAA and Budweiser are teaming up for the Tow and Go program in Michigan. It's open to all drivers and is a free confidential ride to members and non members.

Tow trucks can only transport up tot two people, so if there are more people in your party then you will nee to make arrangements for them to get home safely.
