DETROIT (WXYZ) — Restaurants in Greektown are slowly starting to reopen, working against some difficult odds to see customers again.

Casinos remain closed, as well as some downtown businesses, taking away from some of the foot traffic they rely on.

“It is kind of nice to see what kind of draw we are just on our own, and will people come down on Friday and Saturday night just for Astoria, for Red Smoke, or for Pegasus of for PizzaPapalis,” said owner of Astoria Pastry Shop Tasso Teftsis.

Even when casinos do reopen, they will only be allowed to work at 15 percent capacity.

“In the meantime, we are really counting on, you know, the public to support these long-standing businesses throughout the entire Greektown district, some of which have been here for nearly 50 years,” said Executive Director of Greektown Neighborhood Partnership Melanie Markowicz.
