(WXYZ) — A fourth of Michiganders are out of work, making Michigan one of the hardest-hit states.

But even with the economy now reopening, for many, returning to the workplace is easier said than done. Concerns of safety and lack of child care are forcing thousands to find a way to work from home or not work at all.

So the Rebound Detroit is looking at some of the best ways to 'hustle from home.'

Ije of Ijeoma Ezzine Beauty was a thriving makeup artist, with brides booked for the rest of the year. Business was good -- that is, until the pandemic hit and all of her weddings were canceled.

Her in-person business was no more, but she noticed clients still needed her advice, so she pivoted her business to a work from home model offering virtual services.

Today, she offers a one on one “glowtorial,” a custom beauty bag makeover, or a skincare regimen consultation.

Tiffany "The Budgetnista" Aliche says finding a way to repurpose and monetize your skillset is one of the best ways to hustle from home

"If you know how to do something you can teach that something and make money from home," said Aliche.

In fact, in the realm of teaching, tutoring kids is another great way to make cash from home.

Tutoring online existed pre-pandemic. The only difference now is that there’s even more demand, with schools across the country transitioning to remote learning.

The pay? Anywhere from $15 to $40 an hour.

But if you’re looking for more consistent work, think about a virtual assistant job. Check out companies like greatassistant.com and equivity.com.

If you're interested in customer service positions, consider the three A's: Apple, Amazon, and American Express.

Big companies that service a big volume of people are always going to have some of the most abundant job offerings.

And pay for VR and CSR jobs hovers around $12 to $25 dollars an hour.
