There’s nothing quite like an iced coffee to wake you up and get you ready for the day, but Sonic Drive-In’s newest menu item may be even better: an espresso milkshake!

The new energizing shakes blend a bold, double shot of espresso with creamy, 100% real vanilla ice cream. Coming in two flavors — regular and Oreo — the Oreo espresso shake adds (of course) Oreo cookie pieces to the mix. Both are topped with whipped cream and a cherry.

A medium shake contains approximately 112 milligrams of caffeine. This is just a bit more than a typical cup of coffee, which has about 95 mg. Both shakes are available through Dec. 27 and can be ordered online or in the Sonic App for 1/2 off the price. You can also get the shakes 1/2 price from 2-4 p.m. every day.

“The Espresso Shakes feature a smooth and energizing balance as two different flavors collide,” Scott Uehlein, vice president of product innovation and development for Sonic, said in a press release. “Our guests can really taste the bold, java flavor in the double shot of espresso and the sweet and creamy flavor of the ice cream.”

If you’re looking for some food to go with your shake, Sonic has also added their beloved Queso Burger back to the menu. At $3.99, the burger starts with a quarter-pound, 100% pure beef patty that is covered in cheddar and zesty cheese sauce. It also has Hatch green chiles and is then topped with grilled onions and mayonnaise and served on a toasted bakery bun.

Now through Dec. 1, you can try the Queso Burger for half price when you order online or via the Sonic App. A Sonic representative tells Simplemost the burger will also only be around until Dec. 27, so make sure you head to Sonic soon if you want to try it.
