ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Detroit Lions are placing running back Kerryon Johnson on injured reserve. Head Coach Matt Patricia made the announcement to reporters on Tuesday.

According to Patricia, Johnson had surgery on his knee Tuesday and they hope he can return this season. He will be out at least eight weeks.

Johnson injured his knee during the first quarter of the team's loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He returned for a brief time but was done for the game after that.

He has 308 rushing yards and two touchdowns this season. He also has 126 yards receiving and a touchdown.
