Major League Baseball is trying something new this weekend and is allowing players to forgo their last name on the back of their jersey as part of Players Weekend.
Instead, players will be allowed to put a nickname on the jersey, and I have to say, it looks pretty darn cool.
Some of the best nicknames include "McCannon" for James McCann, "Night Hawk" for Mikie Mahtook and "Papicho" for Victor Martinez.
Other players went for their usual nicknames, like "JV" for Justin Verlander, "J-Up" for Justin Upton, while Nick Castellanos chose to go with "Nick."
The team will wear the special, orange and gray jerseys with an orange cap as part of the non-traditional uniforms inspired by youth-league uniforms.
