The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday they have released tight end Eric Ebron.
The Lions drafted Ebron with the 10th overall pick in 2014.
Last season, Ebron caught for 574 yards and four touchdowns. Before the start of last season, the team picked up his fifth-year option on his contract.
Ebron was set to earn $8.25 million this season. According to Justin Rogers from the Detroit News, the move will free up about $7.7 million in cap space.
