Lions head coach Jim Caldwell said Wednesday that Matthew Stafford is still recovering from the hand injury he suffered last Sunday, and that Stafford is "not out of the woods yet" when it comes to his injury.

Stafford had X-rays in Baltimore that revealed his hand was not broken, just badly bruised.

Stafford didn't throw at all during the portion of Wednesday's practice that is open to the media.

"We'll see what he can do as the week goes on. It's not like it's an insignificant injury. That's not the case," said Caldwell.

Stafford said he has regained feeling in his hand (he was experiencing some numbness on Sunday), and that he is in less pain now than he was after the game.

Stafford said he is relieved the injury wasn't worse. "I was a little nervous walking off the field. I didn't know what to expect and what it was going to be, so [I'm] happy that nothing's broken in there."
