(WXYZ) — Nike is honoring Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders with a special shoe celebrating his 1997 season.

According to Nike, the Barry Sanders Air Zoom Turf Jet 97 will drop on the company's website around the time of the Lions vs. Bears kickoff Thursday afternoon. The game is expected to start at 12:30 p.m.

There will only be 2,053 pairs of the shoes, which equals the amount of yards Sanders rushed for in 1997.

“I played high school football for four years, college football for three years and professional football for 10 years, yet I have been a Nike spokesperson for 30," Sanders said in a news release from Nike. "It is such a huge honor that they are bringing back this shoe in my honor, and I can’t thank Nike enough on behalf of my fans everywhere.”

While they go on sale online on Thursday, there are 250 pairs available starting Wednesday at the Detroit Lions Team Shop inside Ford Field.
