Jim Caldwell is always well aware that being a head coach of a football team will garner criticism.
Yet continuous slow starts, lack of the correct number of players on the field, and a season hanging in the balance have made it more apparent that he could be on the hot seat, as his contract extension is only through the 2018 season.

NFL Network originally reported the extensions within Caldwell's contract.
Both Lions President Rod Wood and General Manager Bob Quinn both declined comment in the press box in Tampa, Florida on Sunday.
