WXYZ — The Lions have fired head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn.

Matt Patricia was brought in by Bob Quinn after Quinn parted ways with Jim Caldwell, who had taken the Lions to the postseason twice in four years, that the Lions needed a coach that could take them to the next level.

Patricia came in and went 6-10 in his first season, and followed that up with a 3-12-1 season. The Lions currently have a 4-7 record in 2020 and the playoffs are all but out of the equation. Patricia's overall record was 13-29-1 in three seasons.

Quinn has been hit and miss, mostly miss, with his team building and drafting abilities.

First and second round picks haven't lived up to the lofty expectations with players chosen that high, and has missed on more prospects than hit on diamonds in the rough.

The team will immediately begin its search for their new general manager and head coach as the season begins to dwindle.

Detroit has had eight coaches since 2000, and have made the playoffs just three times in 20 years.
