CLEVELAND — More than 50,000 people have signed a petition to reinstate Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett following the NFL's decision on Friday to suspend him indefinitely.

Garrett received the suspension after he removed Steelers' QB Mason Rudolph's helmet and swung the helmet at Rudolph's head during an on-field brawl.

Garrett's suspension will last at least for the remainder of the 2019 regular season and postseason.

The petition on Change.org named "Reinstate Myles Garrett" has received more than 50,000 signatures since it went live on Friday.

"No more are the great fans of Cleveland going to sit dormant as the NFL slams the hammer down on us! We will stand and for fight Myles, the Browns, and for Cleveland!! Let's show Mr. Roger Goodell we mean business! Share and let's hit 100,000!!!," the petition reads.

In addition to Garrett's suspension, Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey received a three-game ban for kicking and punching Browns players. Browns DT Larry Ogunjobi received a one-game suspension.

Rudolph did not receive a suspension but is expected to receive a fine for his role in the brawl.
