DETROIT — The Tigers are moving on from Cameron Maybin. Again.
The outfielder was dealt to the Chicago Cubs ahead of Monday's trade deadline. The Tigers are getting shortstop Zach Short in return, who was the Cubs No. 21 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. Short will report to the Tigers alternative site in Toledo.
The Tigers are 16-16 with 28 games left in the abbreviated season.
This is the third time the Tigers have traded Maybin. They moved him to the Marlins in 2007 in the Miguel Cabrera trade, to the Angels in 2016 for Victor Alcantara, and in 2020.
Maybin is 33 years old.
