DETROIT — Filip Zadina said Steve Yzerman called him to explain why he sent him down.
“I just heard the first words were like, ‘We are sending you down.' I was kind of sad. But then he was talking about why he had to do that, and it was a better day," he said.
The Red Wings sent Zadina, Dylan McIlrath, and Dennis Cholowski to Grand Rapids after their 5-1 loss to Winnipeg on Tuesday. They recalled Zadina and McIlrath on Thursday.
