The Detroit Red Wings ended a years-long losing streak at TD Garden in Boston over the weekend, but it was the scrappiness that was on display in Beantown Saturday night.
Late in the second period, Luke Witkowski made a Kronwall-like hit at center ice and was immediately met for a fight by Joakim Nordstrom.
Just over two minutes later, notorious instigator Brad Marchand hit Nick Jensen which prompted Tyler Bertuzzi to throw some shoves.
That led to a penalty and as Jimmy Howard skated away from the bench, Marchand slashed Howard, and Howard then turned around and swung his stick at Marchand. That prompted a scuffle between both teams.
Boston Goaltender Tukka Rask skated over quickly and tried to fight Howard, and referees had to hold both goalies back as they tried skating towards each other. The Red Wings ended up winning the game 4-2.
