Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu is the American League player of the week.

The Brother Rice High School graduate and Michigan resident batted .423 with four home runs and 10 RBIs in six games during the Sep. 14-20 week of games.

LeMahieu recorded a 12-game hitting streak from September 7-19, collecting 19 hits, 12 extra-base hits, and 12 RBIs.

The 32-year-old leads the AL in batting at .361. He is looking to become the second player in MLB history to win the batting title in both leagues. Hall of Famer Ed Delahanty is the only player who accomplished the feat.
