LIVONIA, Mich. (WXYZ) — A fourth generation family-owned jewelry store wants to let people know they are reopening.

MJ Diamonds has five store locations; out of those five, they are open inside Laurel Park Place. Their other locations will open up Wednesday, including Oakland Mall, Fairlane Town Center, Lakeside Mall and Great Lakes Crossing Outlets.

“As soon as we shut down, we knew that when we got back into business, we definitely have to have the right safety precautions in place,” said VP of MJ Diamonds Michael Ansara.

Everyone inside the store will be wearing either a face mask or face shield. They are setting their own ten-person limit inside their stores.

They have a number of name-brands that people will still be able to try on.

“As soon as a piece of jewelry is pulled out of the case, if that piece does not go home with that lucky shopper, when it is put back into the case, we actually sanitize it before putting it back in,” Ansara said.

During the shutdown, they stayed busy giving back to the community, including donating face masks and face shields to local grocery stores and donating laptops to families working to home-school children.

“A couple families reached out to us very early on and they were telling us that they were using a cellphone for attending virtual school, and so what we did is we put together a program for getting laptops out into the community, so we were able to donate 67 of those,” Ansara said.
