WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — A restaurant owner with dreams of owning his own shawarma shop says he is trying to financially survive the coronavirus pandemic.

Crazy Shawarma opened up shop in December in Warren on 10 Mile near Hoover. Owner Donnie Hanna says they were just starting to build a customer base when the pandemic hit.

“It’s like everything you did went down the drain,” said Hanna.

Hanna has a background in IT, which has helped him create a website for customers to place orders online. When you order, you can choose to pickup your food in the store or have the order brought out to you curbside.

If you do pick your order up inside Crazy Shawarma, the food will be placed in a bag on a table to help maintain social distancing between customers and employees.

Orders can also be called in. Delivery is possible through DoorDash, GrubHub and UberEats.

“It’s very important for people to start supporting those small businesses if they want them around,” said Hanna.
