WOODHAVEN, Mich. (WXYZ) — Depending on who you’re talking to, ice cream is probably not considered essential during the coronavirus pandemic.
That being said, Sweet Treats Station in Woodhaven is expanding their menu to help feed the community.
“Everyday it weighs heavily on my mind I’m not sure that tomorrow I won’t close," said owner Dawn Lancaster. "I don’t have any idea, I don’t know what the future will hold."
On top of selling hot dogs, nachos and fresh pretzels, the ice cream shop will now sell soup.
“Right now we have chicken noodle, chili, cream of potato and today we are going to do a vegetable,” said Lancaster.

The soup they are making is also being donated to the nearby Beaumont Hospital in Trenton to help feed healthcare workers.
“We’ve been matching, every time somebody buys a quart of soup we match it with a quart of soup that we have been delivering and donating to the healthcare workers,” said Lancaster.
Sweet Treats Station will deliver within five miles of their location for a $5 charge. Otherwise, they are offering curbside pickup.
They are open daily from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and sell 36 different types of ice cream flavors.
