The Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit is offering a $2,500 reward for information about an injured kitten.

The 8-month-old kitten was found tied to a picker bush with a rope embedded in its neck in front of Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn.

Ford employees discovered the kitten after hearing its cries in thick shrubbery.

The kitten has now been named "Mustang."

The rope had to be surgically removed as it had cut so deep into the kitten's neck that maggots were feeding off of his raw skin.

Elaine Greene, executive director of FAMD, commented on the incident saying, "this kitten is a fighter and very sweet. He was probably there for a few days. He had surgery yesterday at Vet Select in Dearborn, and will recuperate at the shelter."

If you have any information on this kitten please contact the shelter at 313-943-2607.

If you would like to donate to help pay for the cost of the kitten's surgery, visit FAMD's website

Dearborn's animal shelter is run by the non-profit rescue group, and Greene says they are at capacity with cats, kittens, and dogs.

So, if you can open your heart and home to an animal in need, the shelter is offering two for one adoptions on cats and kittens. The adoption fee for dogs six months old and over 20 pounds has also been reduced.

As for Mustang, he's one of the lucky ones in that someone is already lined up to adopt him! A woman who works at the veterinary clinic where he had his surgery is eager to give him a happy home.
