Fast food chain Chick-fil-A is about to kick off an expansion plan that will bring 15 to 20 new locations to Michigan within the next five years.

Chick-fil-A is set to announce the plan on April 19, during the groundbreaking for its first free standing restaurant in Michigan. That location will be on W. Saginaw Highway in Lansing.

That almost 5,000 square foot restaurant is projected to open in the fall.

Chick-fil-A is also planning to open a restaurant in Troy's Somerset Collection by the end of the year.

After that, the chain will open three to four new restaurants in our state over the next five years. The company says they are considering locations in Kalamazoo, metro-Detroit, Grand Rapids and Lansing.

There are currently two Chick-fil-A locations operating in Michigan. One is at Metro Airport, the other is on the campus of Oakland University.
