After hours of searching, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office dive team has recovered the body of a man who fell off a boat returning from Jobbie Nooner.

According to the sheriff's office, they found the body of 45-year-old Virdest Orlando Day about 300 feet south of Huron Pointe off of Lake St. Clair Metropark.

Deputies say a first passenger on the boat fell into the water, and then Day, a 45-year-old man from Redford Township, went in to help the first passenger. Day was wearing a life jacket but it was not secure and it came off.

A third passenger went into the water to help the first two, and eventually, the first and third passengers were able to get back on the boat. They lost sight of Day.

Deputies began the search on Friday night but called it off late into the night. They joined the U.S. Coast Guard at sunrise to resume the search.
