A Detroit mother has been charged for allegedly murdering her 1-year-old son on Tuesday night.
According to police, Shaquittea Denice Reese-Bethea, 31, is charged with first degree murder, felony murder, torture and child abuse in her son's death.
It all started around 10 p.m. Tuesday when police received a suicide call when a woman said she was going to kill herself, but also said there were dead people inside the apartment.
Police rushed to the apartment and there was a woman in the hallway bleeding from what police say looked like a self-inflicted wound.
When they checked the woman out, she yelled out that there was a baby inside the apartment. Police say Reese-Bethea stabbed her son multiple times. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for multiple bleeding wounds.
The child was identified as Jerrick Jefferson. The medical examiner ruled his cause of death homicide by multiple stab wounds.
Arrangements are being made for her to be arraigned at the hospital.
