DPD arrests suspect in Uber driver's death

Detroit police have arrested a suspect in the murder of an Uber driver was found dead on Saturday.

Police say the driver crashed his car after getting shot. 

We're told officers are unsure whether robbery was a motive in this shooting, because Uber drivers never carry cash.

Police tell 7 Action News this is the second West Africa native killed while on the job working as a driver just this month.

Modou Diagne who was found inside his car in the 5500 block of Pacific around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. EMS were called to the scene of what was originally thought to be an accident. They were the ones who discovered he had been shot.

He was found in Lincoln Navigator that had crashed into a tree in front of a home.

This morning, Uber responded by saying in part, "We were greatly saddened today to learn of the tragic death of one of our driver-partners. His wife, children and family are in our prayers and hearts during this unimaginably difficult time."
