Detroit Startup Week adds programming for women, kicks off today

It's an event aimed at building momentum here in the city of Detroit.

Detroit Startup Week works to bring together entrepreneurs and leaders for a five-day conference and community celebration.

Starting today, people will be able to attend a variety of sessions around the city -- all focused on helping them grow their businesses. 

The week of events, led by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs, is hosted by Techstars and powered by Chase for Business. 

Organizers say the goal is to join entrepreneurs of all types no matter the stage of their company. 

The programming is extensive with tracks focused on a variety of topics like design and art, the internet of things (IoT), food-preneurship, according to the event's website

And new this year is added programming focused on businesswomen and mompreneurs. For those events, attendees can expect influential women speakers, and sessions geared toward helping women entrepreneurs succeed.

Detroit Startup Week runs May 22 through May 26.
