The family of a Melvindale teenager is asking the public to help find 16-year-old Marissa Escareno.

The teens family says she snuck out of her home March 3rd, and was reported missing with the Melvindale police the following day. However, police do not think Escareno is in imminent danger, and have not released an Endangered Missing Alert (EMA).

According to the family, Escareno was seen as recent as March 20 in Lincoln Park. She’s believed to be staying in Southwest Detroit and is known to hang with criminals and gang members.

“She is a good kid. I believe she made one bad decision and now being forced to live with that decision out of fear,” said Escareno’s aunt Julia Delagarza.

Anyone with information on Escareno’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Melvindale Police Department at 313-429-1070.
