If the tech industry - especially in Detroit - has caught your attention and you're looking for ways to enhance your skills before you dive in, a boot camp could help whip you into shape.

Meridian Health Plan is partnering with tech training institute Grand Circus to launch a free tech apprenticeship program for Detroit residents, the company announced Tuesday.

The "Meridian Bootcamp Powered by Grand Circus" will train accepted students in a 14-week coding session. Students will be assigned pre-work for two weeks, followed by 12 weeks of full-time instruction.

The best part: after the students have successfully completed the program, the company says the graduates will have a conditional offer for a tech position at Meridian.

It's really a win, win: learn a new, highly valued skill for free - and potentially get a new job at the end of it all.

The application period starts May 1 and ends on May 26 at noon.

One of the goals of the partnership, according to the news release, is to create tech talent and keep it here in Detroit.
