Consumers Energy says it is investigating after receiving multiple calls about a strong smell of natural gas in and around the Plymouth area.
According to Consumers, it has been going on for some time during the overnight hours, and has been reported in Plymouth, Plymouth Township and in parts of Northville Township. They also received calls from the Livonia and Novi area.
Plymouth Township police say Consumers is venting a high pressure gas line in the area of Napier Rd. between 7 Mile and 8 Mile which is causing the smell.
Consumers is telling residents to report a natural gas smell at 800-477-5050 or on their website, consumersenergy.com.
