The family of a murdered teen who was found in a vacant house wants it torn down.

A’ Quale Martin was just 19-years-old when he was found dead in a vacant house on Fleming Street.

The Harper Woods teenager had been shot nine times, and his body dumped in the two story home in the fall of 2010. For his family, the trash littered, dilapidated house is a constant reminder of his death.

“The hardest thing I ever had to do was go to my daughter’s house and tell her I found her son in a nasty trash filled abandoned house.” said Diane Martin.

The house is owned by the Detroit Land Bank Authority.  A spokesperson for the land bank tells 7 Action News, since the home lies outside the federally designated Hardest Hit Fund zone, no funding is available for demolition.

Residents can contact their district manager to coordinate a board up of the property.
