Surveillance video shows an ambulance headed down Warren on May 12th around 9:00 pm near the Chrysler Service Drive in Detroit.

Shortly after, more first responders and officers arrive.

Investigators confirm a 52-year old man had been riding his bike in the street, when he was involved in an accident with a DMCare Express ambulance. He was killed.

We're told the ambulance was taking a patient and family member to a local hospital.

The director of operations for DMCare Express tells 7 Action News the man on the bike was wearing dark clothing on a dark bike, and the driver did not see him.

A statement goes on to read, "Our ambulance crew members, who save lives, are devastated over the collision, and eventual death of the pedestrian."

Detroit Medical Center tells us it doesn't operate that ambulance. It's run by Community EMS.

As for the driver that night, we were told no comment on his current status.

DMCare Express is conducting its own internal investigation, along with Detroit Police.
