An 81-year-old grandmother says she learned the hard way just how easy it is to be scammed.

Earlier this month, she got a call on her cell phone from a woman claiming to be a county commissioner.

She was told her grandson had been in an accident.

This grandmother was told she needed to put $2,000 on an ITunes gift cards and then provide the woman on the phone the code numbers.

So, because she wanted to help, she did what the woman asked. But then the demands continued.

A man got on the phone and asked for her to go to the bank and send money.

This grandmother filed a police report and told officers just how convincing those scammers were, but now she knows better.
