Highland Park Police are searching for 50-year-old Malcolm Bernard Benson, a parolee, in connection with the murder of Stanley Carter - who was killed while waiting for a bus to get to work early Wednesday morning.

Right now investigators are only calling Benson, who was just paroled in January after serving 20 years for Second Degree Murder, a "person of interest."

Police have not ruled out the possibility that Benson is their suspect in Carter's murder.

Loved ones of 59-year-old Carter say he walked from his home in Hamtramck to the bus stop at Woodward and Tennyson in Highland Park to get to work everyday.

But Wednesday around 5:25 a.m., a man walked up to Carter as he waited for the bus and shot him.

Witnesses say Carter had not been arguing with the shooter or in any sort of altercation with anyone before he was fatally shot.

Carter's colleagues at Delwood Supply, a plumbing company in Royal Oak, are devastated by the loss of their friend and coworker.

Anyone with any information in the case is urged to call Highland Park Police.
