A pair of quick-thinking boys are being credited with helping rescue dozens of people from a burning apartment in Romulus Sunday night.

It happened at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Barrington Apartments complex on Diane Drive near Wayne Road and Wick Road in Romulus.

Fire officials said no one was injured in the blaze, but several families are left without a home. The complex has 36 units, and most of them are damaged, officials added.

RJ Stockton, 11, and Freddie King, 10, ran down hallways and knocked on doors urging people to get out.

"We were coming back from the park and I said, we should go in there and tell people to come out," King said.

The Red Cross is on site working to help the residents who are displaced.

The cause remains under investigation.
