Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy called accidently breaking Joe Paterno's leg "my proudest moment in college" in an interview published Thursday morning by Men's Journal.

In a game in 2006, a sideline tackle drove Levy into Paterno, accidently breaking his leg. Now Levy says he looks back at that moment with pride. In recent years it came to light that Paterno was aware of the child sexual abuse perpetrated by his assistant Jerry Sandusky.

"We gotta stop prioritizing sports over humanity," Levy said in the Men's Journal interview. He added "Just because somebody can throw a football or coach football, they're excluded from their wicked acts."

Levy also opened up about CTE and the fact that he himself as experienced some of the symptoms. He said he sometimes has trouble remembering things and trouble reading aloud. "It's frustrating because you put your body on the line, and the people you're working to make money for, they prioritize profit over the health of their greatest assets, and as a player that's troubling," he told Men's Journal.

From his exotic travels to his outspokenness on issues like sexual assault, Levy often goes "against the grain" in the realm of professional football.
