For the last six years, 13-year-old Elizabeth Popovich has been collecting donations to help send Girl Scout cookies to our troops serving overseas.
In the first year, she collected $1,128 to send 282 boxes overseas. Last year, she raised $18,320 and sent 4,580 boxes of cookies to the soldiers. So far, she's already beat that this year collecting more than $23,000 already.
“I might give up time on my Saturday but it’s worth it in the end,” says Elizabeth.
The 7th grader is hoping to get more people to help in 2016. If you would like to donate, you can send a check made out to "Girl Scout Troop #75924" and mail it to Cookies 4 Troops c/o Elizabeth Popovich, P.O. Box #437, 51194 Romeo Plank, Macomb Township, MI 48042.
Elizabeth is also holding an event on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Wolverine Harley-Davidson in Clinton Township, 44660 Gratiot. It runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and you can make a donation to help send cookies overseas.
