Here's what the Players say about their show: "The comedic collaboration of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. This high spirited comedy opened on Broadway in 1936, and played for 838 performances. The play won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the screen adaptation won the 1938 Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director. This hit comedy has had several Broadway revivals; the most recent version was the 2014 revival starring James Earl Jones.
It is not your typical “meet the parents” dinner as Alice Sycamore introduces her fiancé’s conservative parents to her eccentric family full of zany personalities, replete with fireworks, xylophones, a ballerina, wrestling, and Marxist propaganda. One of the most popular and successful plays of the last century, You Can’t Take It With You is a madcap, idealistic comedy that reinforces the idea that you can only live life to the fullest by doing whatever makes you happy."
