Lots of people will race at Hart Plaza this weekend to support America's military veterans. It's all part of Justin Verlander's charity, "Wins for Warriors." Click the video player for JoAnne Purtan's interview on 7 Action News at Noon.
The fun happens Sunday November 6th at Hart Plaza. It involves a "Salute to Service" celebration, a parade, and a run. "Wins for Warriors Foundation" is teaming up with Fifth Third Bank for the events.
The Armed Services Salute is hree events in one, and everyone is invited.
The day includes:
• A free Vets Fest family friendly celebration from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. featuring food, live music and exhibits by local veterans’ support organizations.
• The 11th Annual Metro Detroit Veterans Coalition (MDVC) Veterans Day Parade, which starts at noon at Jefferson and Chene streets and follows West Jefferson into Hart Plaza.
• The 4Star 4Mile Race at noon, which begins and ends in Hart Plaza. Registration is $35 ($25 with military discount); proceeds support the efforts of MDVC and Wins for Warriors to help veterans and their families.
