"Sister Act" the hit musical comedy opens this weekend at Detroit's oldest community theatre The Park Players. There will also be performances at the Redford Theatre. Click the video player to hear the star sing a big song from the show.
Whoopi Goldberg made the film famous on the big Screen. She played a woman who saw a murder and was placed in witness protection in a convent, the one place police believe she won't be found.
For the first time in its 60-plus year history, The Park Players will perform at a venue other than the North Rosedale Park Community House. This April, the Players' production of Sister Act will begin its run on April 7 in its usual home, then conclude the month with performances at the historic Redford Theatre.
"Our version of Sister Act is filled with a lot of flash and circumstance,' says Producer Archie Lynch. "Plus, being on the larger stage in Redford will allow the actors to really stretch out, be bolder, and scale the characters up to fill up the space."
