(WXYZ) — Michigan gas prices are up 31 cents compared to last week, AAA Michigan reports.

Drivers are now paying an average of $1.84 per gallon for regular unleaded, 28 cents more than this time last month, but 99 cents less than this time last year.

AAA Michigan says motorists are paying an average of $29 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline.

The boost in demand for gasoline is pushing pump prices up around the country as more states re-open businesses.

“Gas demand is expected to continue to grow, leading pump prices to continue their increase through the week," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA - The Auto Club Group.

Metro Detroit's current average is $1.80 per gallon.
