(WXYZ) — Gas prices are continuing to fall across metro Detroit, seeing a large drop compared to one week ago. According to AAA Michigan, gas prices in the state went down 11 cents compared to last week.
The company said drivers in Michigan are now paying around $2.64 per gallon for regular unleaded, which is 23 cents less than this time last month and 36 cents less than this time a year ago.
For a full 15-gallon tank of gas, it costs around $40, which is $7 cheaper for when prices were at their highest last May.
In metro Detroit, prices went down about 9 cents to $2.76 per gallon, which is 24 cents cheaper than last year.
"Our demand has been steadily outpaced by our total domestic stocks, which will likely result in a continued price drop at the pump,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA - The Auto Club Group.
Ann Arbor, metro Detroit and Lansing have the most expensive gas prices on average, while Grand Rapids, Lansing and the Saginaw-area are the cheapest.
