NOVI, Mich. (WXYZ) — A busy intersection in Oakland County will close down this weekend for reconstruction and remain closed through the middle of next month.

According to the Oakland County Road Commission, Novi Rd. will close at 12 Mile on Aug. 2 for the second phase of the ongoing reconstruction of the intersection.

The $1.1 million project will remove and replace concrete, removal and replace Novi Rd. approaches, reconstruct the 12 Mile Rd. turnaround, improve drainage, upgrade pedestrian crossings and make crosswalks and sidewalks ADA-compliant.

During construction, one lane of 12 Mile will remain open, and access to businesses in the area will be maintained.

To get around it, take Grand River Avenue to Meadowbrook Road to 13 Mile Road, back to Novi Road and vice versa.

The intersection carries around 37,000 vehicles every day.
