Grosse Pointe Woods Police are looking for a man responsible for  breaking into a home in the 19000 block of Raymond Road and sexually assaulting the resident.

Police said the incident happened around 6:30 Saturday morning.

The resident woke to find the suspect in the home armed with a gun, then the resident was sexually assaulted.

The suspect got away in an unknown direction, in an unknown vehicle.

Neighbors living on Raymond are shocked.

"Kinda feel nervous and scared, I feel bad for that person this it happened to,” said neighbor, Dajaree Pitts.

"I live here, my daughter lives here, I have little grandkids here, you know it's scary to think that somebody broke into someone's home and assaulted them,” said neighbor, Theresa Crosby.

Crosby has lived in her home on Raymond for the last nine years and she said this is the most serious crime she’s heard of happening here.

"The only thing we've ever heard of is a car being stolen,” said Crosby.

She said she usually feels safe knowing she’s just a few doors away from St. John Hospital, they have their security teams patrolling the neighborhood often.

"They drive around, up and down the streets all day and the police department is right up the street,” said Crosby.

That didn’t stop this suspect, police describe the man as white, tall and thin, wearing a black hoodie, dark jeans, a mask and armed with a handgun.

Crosby said she will be on the lookout.

"He did that once who is to say he won't do it again, lurking around, has he done this before?” she said.
