Mom and dad, put your aprons away, September 13 is National Kids Take Over The Kitchen Day!
Children and teens in Metro Detroit and across the country will be cooking up a storm in the kitchen on Tuesday.
Despite sounding like a potential disaster, the "unofficial" holiday is actually quite the treat.
Not only does it give parents and kids the chance to spend quality time together, it also opens the (kitchen) door to conversations about the importance of healthy eating habits, and how to prepare and cook food safely.
Andre Rodriguez, an executive chef at Applebee's, and Amber Louchart, the founder of Metro Detroit Mommy, stopped in studio to tell us more about National Kids Take Over The Kitchen Day. You can watch the segment in our video player above.
We want to see pictures of your kids having fun in the kitchen. Email us your photos to sendit@wxyz.com and we'll use them online. We may also show your pictures on-air!
Have a great family date!
