Pagenaud wins pole for Detroit Grand Prix race 1

Team Penske driver Simon Pagenaud will start the first race of the Dual in Detroit on Saturday at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.

Pagenaud won the pole with a time of 1 minute, 14.9166 seconds, which is over one second faster than last year's track record of 1 minute, 16.0941 seconds.

It was a fast day of qualifying for many drivers, and Helio Castroneves set the track record with a time of 1 minute, 14.6899 seconds.

Team Penske also swept the top three positions, with Castroneves and Juan Pablo Montoya finishing second and third respectively.
