Have you bought any Starkist canned tuna in the past 6 years (and really, who hasn't?).
Or have you tried to participate in a recent Sephora cosmetics rewards promotion, and were frustrated because you, like thousands of other shoppers, got locked out?
You could have a few dollars coming your way, as both companies try to make right with unhappy customers.
Starkist Class Action
The big settlement, that will affect the most people, is Starkist tuna's offer to give customers $25 in cash or $50 in Starkist coupons, for those who really like their tuna.
This comes two years after a man filed a class action lawsuit, claiming that the company was deliberately putting extra water in cans, shortchanging customers.
ADon't Waste Your Money investigation last yearfound many brands of canned food containing a significant amount of water.
Starkist is not admitting to any wrongdoing, but has agreed to settle the case by offering $25 cash refunds to people who bought its canned tuna between 2009 and October 2014.
Products eligible for refund are chunk light and solid white tuna, in both oil and water, in 5 ounce cans.
Best of all, you don't need to find your receipts, since unless you are a hoarder, most of us don't have grocery receipts from 5 years ago. You just have to swear under oath that you did indeed buy some Starkist tuna.
And if you really, really, really love tuna you can ask instead for $50 in vouchers for more tuna.
Go to the website www.tunalawsuit.comto apply for your piece of the settlement.
Sephora offers $40 Gift Code
Another company offering to make good with customers is Sephora cosmetics, which ran a botched promotion this summer.
It offered bonus reward points for people who bought additional makeup.
Thousands of people did just that, and the company wasn't prepared for the onslaught: it ran out of reward points (OK, how exactly does that happen?), and told many people they were not getting the bonus.
What was listed as an "epic rewards" promotion became an epic fail, as Facebook and other social media sites lit up with criticism of Sephora.
So they company is making good with those customers, offering everyone who asked for the bonus but did not get it a $50 gift card, according to the website Consumerist.
