I first introduced you to Michelle Williamson and her MEL’S Toffeeback in 2016... She creates unique flavors, like Maple Bourbon Pecan, using Jim Beam Maple.

She has your more traditional flavors too of course, but we met, Michelle has partnered with CEO Stout, infusing toffee with the stout, and most recently she’s partnered with Dark Horse Brewery in Western Michigan. She uses their Raspberry Ale in her Chocolate Raspberry Toffee. It’s so good, it just won a bronze award from the International Chocolate Salon in the toffee category…

The awards have been racking up for Scotty O’Hotty Hot Saucesince I first profiled owners Scotty and Suzi Owens. It seems everything they enter, they walk away some sort of winner. And now the hot sauce is heating up supermarket shelves. Sales at some area Kroger stores were so good that the dynamic duo has recently completed their first order to the national distribution hub for Kroger… which Scott says all but guarantees nationwide distribution to all Kroger Supermarkets in 2018.

To keep up with the demand, Scotty O’Hotty is moving this summer from a commercial kitchen in Southfield to a new state of the art manufacturing facility in Inkster, with 16-thousand square feet.

The Owens also recently met Jack Ma, the founder of the Alibaba group, the trillion dollar Chinese e-commerce company. They’re now planning a trade mission to china soon to explore selling in that part of the world.
