DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened on the city's west side overnight on July 4.

On July 4 around 12:55 a.m., the victims' vehicle – a white Dodge Durango – was traveling on 8300 block of Homer Street. Police say as the vehicle pulled over, it is alleged that three unknown cars past them and someone inside one of the passing cars began firing shots, striking all five passengers in the white Dodge Durango.

According to police, a 39-year-old woman was fatally wounded, while four male victims – ages 9, 12, 15 and 40 – were treated for non-fatal injuries.
